How the "Duck" are you?

This morning I'd like to share with you a card that I have made to cheer my Mom up. She broke her foot back in the first week of February and has had to be off her feet since then! She is going stir crazy since she is used to being able to go out and go shopping or visit friends whenever she felt like. So being stuck in the house has had a little tug on her daily happiness! So I think she'll get a smile when she receives this card in the mail! I would deliver it personally but she lives in NJ and I live in Texas! Just a little too far for a quick visit! LOL I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it...

I used a white cardstock which I folded in half and punched a small circle in. I cut a piece of green mulberry paper a bit smaller and added a yellow ribbon from my stash. I hand wrote the sentiment on some punched circles from scraps. The duck that I colored with Copic markers is from Sunsational Stamps' new set: Have a Purrfect Spring.

The inside of the card shows the back of the duck peeking through the hole in the card. I cut two ducks out and glued them together. The grass and the sentiment are both from the same stamp set as the duck! I also used a piece of the same green mulberry paper on the inside to give it a bit of color.

This was a quick fun card that I hope will make my Mom smile! What do you think? How do you make someone smile when they are feeling a bit down? Let me know in the comments, I'd love to hear from you! You'd make me smile!!!

This card will be entered in the March challenge for:

Sunsational Stamps - anything goes with a twist (dimension)

I am so thrilled to be a guest designer joining the Sunsational Stamp Design Team on the March hop this month! Thanks for the extra special blog love!!! For my project I used the  duck and bunny from one stamp set and the butterfly from another set:

This set is called Have a Purrfect Spring. I love the cute sayings with this set!
This set is appropriately called Spring is Blooming. These critters can be used in soooo many different ways!

I created this paper rosette bouquet!

This was a quick, easy and cheap (approximately $5.00! Less if you use what you have in your stash!) project that will brighten up any room for Spring and Easter!

I printed out the adorable Sunsational Stamps' digital images on my computer. I colored them with my Prismacolor pencils. I just LOVE these pencils, they blend so well! Then I made simple paper rosettes by accordion folding 12" strips of paper.

The strips are different sizes. The strip should be 1/2 of whatever size you want the final rosette to be. (If you go bigger than 2" your strip will have to be longer than 12" or it will rip!) I learned from experience! LOL The folds are every 1/4". I used a scoring board to make it easier but its not necessary. If you need a more detailed tutorial on how to make a rosette, let me know in the comments. I will be happy to post one.

The vase, plastic eggs, burlap ribbon and the Pixie Stix were all from the Dollar Tree! I've been told that the dollar store sells paper straws but I couldn't find any! I thought the Pixie Stix were a "sweet" alternative! I would think any type of straws or sticks would work too.

The buttons were from my stash. I put buttons on the back of the rosettes too (see the picture below). This makes it look more finished and also holds the rosette more secure if you don't use a glue gun! (I have to buy a new one, mine has been misplaced and I miss it so much!)
As you can see, I didn't just use buttons on the back. On the bigger rosette I used a piece of chipboard on the back. It held it much better.

These digital stamps on the rosettes would also look awesome as gift tags!!! If you notice the rosette with the chipboard has a hole in it. Add a string or ribbon through the hole without the straw and you have an adorable tag!!!

I enjoyed creating with these stamps! They are so adorable and versatile. You can easily adapt them to so many projects! You really need to give them a try!!

Thank you for your interest and time to view my project. I hope I have inspired you to create on a budget!   What are you creating for Spring or Easter? I challenge you to create something cute for as cheap inexpensive as possible! LOL Let me know in the comments what you come up with and also what you think of mine!

Sunsational Stamps February Release Blog Hop

Welcome to Sunsational Stamps Design Team Blog Hop for February, 2016. Thank you for joining us today! Our theme for this months release is "Critters and Flowers". We are so excited about this release, there are 12 sets and the images are too cute for words, I am confident that you will love them!!!

There is as always Blog Candy to be won at every stop. that means if you follow the rules we have set out you have 10 chances to win. For my project I used the Beary Special Stamp set

I created this "Beary Special" bag!
This bag is the perfect size to show someone that you were just thinking of them, that they're special or just because. I think it would make a great Easter basket for goodies or giving a treat to a neighbor or friend too. A quart size zipper top bag with cookies or other baked treats would fit great in here!

This purse was made out of cardstock and patterned paper from the American Girl Collection. The buttons and twine were just from my stash. I colored the digital image from Sunsational's digital collection with my Prismacolor pencils and I printed the sentiment from the above digital set on my computer. The sentiment is on one side of the tag and the cute bear is on the other! This was a quick and fun project that I am thrilled with and how it turned out!

Please comment below with how you think this "Beary Special" bag could be used! I'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas on this project!

My inspiration was from A YouTube video done by Jen Evers of My Besties Shop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxQGHyj7hT0

I am so thankful that I was asked to be a guest designer along with Helen this month! Thanks for the experience and inspiring me to start blogging again! I'd be honored to join you again anytime!

So glad you could make it today! Is the air cool, crisp and fresh where you live? Here in Texas, we have been teased with a few days of Fall weather but it left as quickly as it came!
I tried to keep the thoughts and feelings of October and Fall by decorating my surroundings! Otherwise I would think it was still SUMMER! AAgghh!
One of the decorations that I did and think it turned out well is a scarecrow wreath for my front door! My inspiration came from a picture that my daughter sent me from somewhere on the web. I would give proper credit if I knew to whom it belonged (she only clipped the pic with no source)! So please forgive me.

     Here is my inspiration

 and here is MY WREATH!

They are a bit different but I LOVE the way mine turned out what do you think? It's really easy and would love to see pics if you make one for your front door!  You may already have some of the supplies or can get them quite cheaply!

August 9th is Book Lover's Day! My project to celebrate this holiday is something every book lover needs...a bookmark! These bookmarks are actually a file that I purchased from the Silhouette America store from designer Sarah Bailey.  Instead of cutting them with my electronic cutter, I printed the pattern and let my girls go free with my scrapping papers and card stock. These are their creations...

What better way to nurture the love of books then to create your own monster bookmark???!!!

National S'mores Day is actually Today, August 10th! For this crazy holiday I knew I wanted to celebrate with not your ordinary traditional S'more. I wanted something you could enjoy even when you are not sitting 'round the campfire!

So I searched the "go to place for everything you ever wanted"...Pinterest! to see what I could. And find I did! There are literally thousands of recipes for s'mores, some traditional and some far from traditional! I searched pin after pin after pin and then there it was...the most scrumptious, delightful, mouthwatering S'more that I had been searching for!

These delights got rave reviews from my kids..."amazing!", "you need to make more!", "these are delish!"

They were very easy to make too!

1. Make a graham cracker cookie dough & squish into pan
2.  layer with Hershey's chocolate bar
3. Cover chocolate with marshmallows or marshmallow creme
4. Put remainder of cookie dough on top & cook for 30 minutes!

For the complete recipe for these delightful treats, visit Mama's recipes

Thanks for stopping by this month. Before you totally run off and snuggle up with a good book and a S'more, be sure to leave some bloggie love, I really appreciate your comments!

Your next stop along the way of the calendar is Lucy. Thanks for stopping by and mark your calendar again next month to see what Holidays to Celebrate on September 14, 2013, for the next Calendar Girls Blog Hop!

Calendar Girls' Blog Hop...Flag Day and Fishing Day!

Welcome to our June Calendar Girls' Blog Hop. It’s absolutely amazing when you do a Google search, the interesting facts you may find... the special and unique occasions throughout the year!!! These unique holidays are our inspiration. As Neil Sedaka sang in his song "Calendar Girls" - "June, they’ll let me take you to the Junior Prom.”

Ahhh, yes, remember those prom days, let alone the prom pictures?? I remember my Senior Prom –my date picked me up in his parents’ “clunker.” Wait, wait, it gets better! We were supposed to go to NYC after the prom…He didn't want to take his parents’ car so we ended up riding the BUS into New York City!!! Can you believe it?? The BUS!! Can you say NERD?? Sitting on the bus in your prom gown and tuxedo…what a memory! Well enough with that, on to the projects!

The hop starts with the beautiful and very talented Vicky at http://crafting-vicky.blogspot.ca/. The entire line-up is available below my projects, just in case you get bogged down with all the holidaze and craziness as you won't want to miss a single calendar event!!!!

If you arrived from Lynne’s blog, then you are right on track!

I’d like to share 2 projects that I created to recognize holidays in June…The 1st is Flag Day which occurs on June 14th and the second is Fishing Day which occurs on June 18th!

So here we go…

If you are from any state in the South you should be familiar with the “pillowcase” dress!
Well, if you aren't, you are about to be!

Pillowcase dresses have been around for hundreds of years. They came about as an easy and inexpensive way to clothe children. The original dresses were made from potato sacks, old linens and …pillow cases! These dresses are still popular and have taken on many modern twists.

I made this simple cute patriotic dress for my granddaughter of
18 months...

It was all made from fabric that I found in the $1.00/yard bin at
Wal-Mart! It could really be made from scraps you have from other projects; it only took me about ½ yard of material. The stars came from a $2.00 package of buttons in my stash. It only took me approximately 5 hours (should have been less without interruptions and breaks)!

And there you have it, a “pillowcase” dress that is still inexpensive, cute and can be worn for all patriotic holidays!
(Let me know in the comments if you would like to see a tutorial on how to make a "pillowcase" dress)

On to Fishing Day…This card is a fun and interactive card! Not only can it be used for Fishing Day but it would make
a wonderful Father's Day Card (also in June) too!

The fisherman and his boat are both chalked and paper pieced from scraps that I had.
He is drifting among layers of waves that are inked and embossed.
The fishing line of string dangles in the waves with hopes of catching that playful fish! The playful fish beneath his boat is on a penny slider.

Watch the video of my daughter demonstrating how the card actually works:

Well, it was fun sharing the holidays with you. Thanks for stopping by! Don’t miss the others in the hop because there are great projects and blog candy too!
